REACH Program Empowers Local Youth

The Christina REACH Program (Reaching, Exploring and Cultivating our Heads, Hearts and Hands), supports and empowers students with intellectual disabilities by connecting them with education and activities that integrate them into the community and assist their development.

Since 2023, the Delaware Museum of Nature and Science has worked with multiple schools in the Christina School District to provide Work-Based Learning opportunities. Students complete tasks such as helping to feed animals and cleaning supplies, preparing and folding facility materials, stuffing gift bags, stickering library books, greeting guests with maps, counting and cutting craft materials, and more.

The museum currently works with two schools in Christina School District for Work-Based Learning opportunities – your school or program could be next!

If you are interested in learning more about how your students can participate in Work-Based Learning with us, please email education@delmns.org. Looking to book a program? Visit School & Group Programs – Delaware Museum of Nature & Science.

“As a Christina School District student myself, I’ve worked with REACH for years as a peer mentor and now now appreciate the opportunity to give back to the community. I feel honored we have such a strong partnership with our communities’ schools to work with them in this capacity.”

– Christina Zampini, Assistant Director of Programs.
