Magical Moments at the Museum: Breaking Into STEAM

Career paths aren’t always linear, and that’s exactly what makes them meaningful.

Just ask Executive Director Mandy C. Santiago, CFRE. She started in social work, transitioned into forensics, and now leads the Delaware Museum of Nature & Science—all because one mentor took the time to spark her curiosity.

Her journey is a reminder that a single conversation can open doors we never imagined.

What inspired you to pursue a career in STEM? Was it a teacher, a moment, or something you discovered on your own?

If we want a stronger, more innovative future and workforce, we need to start by encouraging young students to see themselves in STEM careers. That means giving them access to real role models, real opportunities, and real support.

On May 20, 2026, we’re hosting our annual Breaking into STEAM event for middle school and high school students, because we believe:

·      A single conversation can spark interest.
·      A single project can build confidence.
·      A single mentor can change a life.

If you or your organization are passionate about empowering the next generation, let’s connect!

We’re looking for sponsors and mentors who want to help us expand our reach and deepen our impact, serving as guest speakers and providing hands‑on learning opportunities directly to students who may not otherwise have access.

Together, we can open doors that change lives. Click the link below to learn more!
