Lush, warm rainforests teem with plant and animal life. They are among the most biodiverse places on Earth, home to millions of animal and plant species. Our tropical rainforest reconstruction represents an area of Jau National Park near Manaus, Brazil.

Included in the exhibit are birds that migrate through Delaware, spending part of the year here!

We're proud to be part of Blue Star Museums, a free admission program available for those currently serving in the United States Military — Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard as well as members of the Reserves, National Guard, U.S. Public Health Commissioned Corps, NOAA Commissioned Corps — and up to five family members.

The program runs through Labor Day, and is a collaboration among @neaarts, @bluestarfamilies, the Department of Defense, and participating museums across America.

This Blue Sea Star (Linckia laevigata) is in our coral reef exhibit.

Beneath the water’s surface, mountains, valleys, and plains shape a variety of ecosystems: sunny and shallow coastal waters, vast expanses of dimly lit mid-water, and the inky darkness of the deepest sea, all providing habitats for diverse marine life. World Ocean Day is designated to bring awareness to the importance of our oceans and the need to protect them. At the Delaware Museum of Nature and Science, guests may explore three different marine ecosystems — shallow, mid-water, and deep sea — today and every day.
