Creating a legacy to benefit the museum
Planned giving is a donor’s intention to contribute to an organization after their lifetime, often as part of their financial or estate plan. Thanks to museum Trustee Timo Weymouth for sharing why planned giving is important to him.
Legacy: that can be a heavy word for someone in their 30s. When I was in that decade of life, I put “the Museum“ in my estate plans; I have sustained my commitment for the place, people and programs that make the Delaware Museum of Nature and Science special.
Having our museum in my estate plans means my gift outlasts me and helps the institution inspire curious people of all ages into the future. Under the guidance of a great staff, I want to ensure the
continuation of the programs using the galleries and collections. On a personal level, my deep studies of marine biology, time in the true wilderness, and commitment to hands-on science teaching are satisfied with my gift. I hope that similar interests are nurtured now and in the future,While the recent Museum Metamorphosis has helped us explore more possibilities, using a logical approach to planned giving helps us expand our horizons even further. Join me to make our mutual museum legacy ever stronger! – Timo Weymouth
