Volunteer Opportunities

Summer Science Corps

June 9, 2024 – August 24, 2024

For teens in grades 7-12

Summer Science Corps is a program created just for teens! Bring your brain and creativity and gain real-world, on-the-job experience in early childhood education, gallery interpretation, museum collections, and more.

Application deadline is Monday, April 8, 2024. Applications will be reviewed, and interviews will be hosted the week of April 14-April 20. Accommodations can be made to host interviews virtually. All applications will be responded to by April 30, 2024.

Summer Science Corps members:

  • Lead hands-on science and nature activities
  • Assist with gallery interpretation, education programs, special events, summer camp, and more
  • Gain experience in early childhood education, exhibit interpretation, museum collections, and more
  • Must be comfortable and willing to interact with and relate to different age groups and educational levels in a positive and professional manner

Join the Delaware Teen Science Café Leadership Team

August 2024 – May 2025

For teens in grades 9-12.

Hours count towards community service requirements

Applications for the 2024-2025 school year are open! Apply today to be part of our Delaware Teen Science Café Leadership Team.

The Delaware Teen Science Café Leadership Team plans and hosts Delaware Teen Science Cafés throughout the school year. Planning and hosting Teen Science Cafés include creating themes, preparing presenters, marketing, and building leadership skills. Check our Events page for Delaware Teen Science Cafés that our current Leadership Team have hosted!

Application deadline is Monday, April 15. Applications will be reviewed, and interviews will be hosted April 21-April 27. Accommodations can be made to host interviews virtually. All applicants will be responded to by May 7, 2024.

In addition to our teen volunteer opportunities, through the New Castle County Youth Program, we are hiring up to five youth (ages 14-21) for paid summer (and possibly year-round) positions. This program is funded through the American Recovery Program Act (ARPA) and has household income eligibility requirements.

Delaware Teen Science Café

For teens in grades 7-12

The Delaware Teen Science Café is designed for teens by teens in our community to engage in STEAM-related topics delivered by local experts in the field. A typical café may consist of food, collaboration, special guest speakers, activities, and more. This program is specifically designed for grades 7-12.

Full STEAM Ahead

For ages 10+ through teens

All aboard for scientific discovery focused on STEAM Innovation designed exclusively for ages 10+. Explore how Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math are interconnected through hands-on activities, creative thinking, problem solving, and more! This workshop is geared towards higher education learning which may not be suitable to younger age groups.
