Delaware Teen Science Café
For teens in grades 7-12
The Delaware Teen Science Café is designed for teens by teens in our community to engage in STEAM-related topics delivered by local experts in the field. A typical café may consist of food, collaboration, special guest speakers, activities, and more. This program is specifically designed for grades 7-12.
Coming up: Rockin’ Relics
November 6, 2026, 6-8:30 p.m.
Join us for a blast to the past with Rockin’ Relics, where we will dig into the fascinating world of prehistoric life. You’ll have the opportunity to step into the shoes of a paleontologist with activities like excavating fossils, constructing dinosaur skeletons, and producing your own petrified prints.
Event dates for the 2026-2027 school year are:

- Friday, April 30, 2027
Admission is FREE. Pre-registration is required. For the safety of all of the teen participants, this is a drop off program. Only adult DelMNS staff and volunteers who have gone through a background check may be inside the building during the program.

Volunteer Opportunities
S.T.E.A.M. Squad
Year-round
For teens in grades 9-12
S.T.E.A.M. Squad is a program created just for teens! Bring your brain and creativity and gain real-world, on-the-job experience in early childhood education, gallery interpretation, museum collections, and more.
- Lead hands-on science and nature activities
- Assist with gallery interpretation, education programs, special events, summer camp, and more
- Gain experience in education, gallery & exhibit interpretation, special events, summer camp, & more
- Must be comfortable and willing to interact with and relate to different age groups and educational levels in a positive and professional manner
In addition to our teen volunteer opportunities, through the New Castle County Youth Program, we are hiring up to five youth (ages 14-21) for paid summer (and possibly year-round) positions. This program is funded through the American Recovery Program Act (ARPA) and has household income eligibility requirements.
