Parties are available Saturday and Sunday at 10 a.m. or 1:30 p.m. Available dates are available here on our group event calendar.
Parties include:
- Private party room for two hours for up to 30 people, includes museum admission for your guests. Parties are hosted in one of the museum’s two classrooms. Please see photos below. We encourage you to set up a tour to see the spaces before booking a party.
- Unlimited access to the public galleries for self-guided exploration. A DelMNS staff member is available to help you during this time.

- A maximum of 30 people total — birthday child and family members included — are covered in the base package price. Due to fire safety codes, only 30 people are allowed in the party room at any given time. All additional guests over the 30 included in the package who arrive the day of the party must pay regular admission and may not be in the room if 30 people are already there.
- For parties expecting more than 30 people, a second party room may be rented for the same base price ($340 for DelMNS members or $420 for non-members). This must be arranged with DelMNS staff at least three weeks prior to the party date. DelMNS cannot guarantee that a second party room will be available on your preferred party date. If a second party room is rented, the total maximum number of people allowed is 60 (30 per room).
- Parties do not include decorations or related items. We do not permit balloons, glitter, glow sticks, and fire sources for any party. Please review the rules and policies for more information.

Add-on programs
Choose one 30-minute themed program with several age-appropriate guided activities, available for an additional fee. Options include themed story time, games, guided tours, exploring scientific specimens, or a visit from a live animal ambassador.

Backyard Explorers
Step outside and discover the wonders of our backyard! This nature-themed package includes a variety of age-appropriate guided activities, such as outdoor exploration, nature stories, hands-on learning with natural specimens, or a scavenger hunt for backyard critters and plants. You’ll also meet one of our live animal friends who could be living right in your neighborhood!
Note: This party and program are held outdoors. Party will move indoors only due to inclement weather.
Legends & Heroes
From fairy tales to superheroes, dive into a world where stories come to life! This imaginative package includes age-appropriate guided activities such as a legendary tale, hands-on comparisons between real-world animals and their mythical counterparts, or an exhibit search for creatures of lore. You will even meet a real animal who shares traits with heroes of the past!
Bug-tacular Birthday Bonanza
Get ready to bug out with this entomology-themed adventure! Perfect for insect enthusiasts, this party includes age-appropriate guided activities such as a build-a-bug activity, a bug-themed story, hands-on examination of real insect specimens, or a bug hunt in our exhibits—or even outdoors, weather permitting. One of our live arthropod guests will stop by to say hello!
Mind-craft Miners
Dig into the science behind your favorite game! This geology-based party includes a variety of age-appropriate guided activities, such as mineral identification of real-world rock and mineral specimens, exploration of our outdoor geology exhibit, or a guided “dig” activity for various fossils.
Star Side Science
Blast off into the cosmos with a birthday among the stars. This astronomy-themed package features age-appropriate guided activities such as a space craft, real meteorite and space specimens, or an immersive journey through the Starlab planetarium. A special animal visitor might join to help explain how all life on Earth is tied to the stars!
Dino Days
Roar like a dinosaur! This prehistoric package includes a variety of age-appropriate guided activities, such as a story, dinosaur games, interacting with real fossils, or a guided tour of the PaleoZone. Expect a visit from one of our live animals whose ancestors were around at the same time as the dinosaurs.
Weird Wacky Animals
Explore the weird, wacky, strange, and unique parts of the animal kingdom! This package includes a variety of age-appropriate guided activities, such as an animal-themed game, a story, animal specimens, or a search for unique critters in the exhibits. You’ll also meet one of our own weird and wacky live animal friends.
Undersea Explorers
Join us for an undersea adventure! This ocean-themed package includes a variety of age-appropriate guided activities, such as an ocean-themed game, a story, nautical specimens, or a tour of our ocean exhibits. And don’t forget to be on the lookout for a visit from one of our live animal friends.
Dinosaur Gift Boxes
Dinosaur-themed gift boxes filled with fun toys and party favors. Additional $7 per box, paid at time of party.
Details
Set up/Clean up:
Hosts may arrive 30 minutes early to set up party room, and have 30 minutes after the allotted 2 hour timeslot to pack up and clean up the party room.
Capacity
Maximum of 30 people total included in the base package, and allowed in the party room (due to fire-safety codes). All additional guests over 30 must pay regular admission and may not be in the room if 30 people are already there.
What to bring
Bring your own food, decorations and tablecloths. DelMNS does not provide these items.
What NOT to bring
Fire sources (matches, lighters), balloons, glitter, confetti, and sharp utensils are prohibited. DelMNS staff can provide flame sources to light birthday candles.
If your plans change
Cancellations must be made at least two weeks before your scheduled program start date.
- If you cancel your reservation less than 2 weeks prior, you will NOT be refunded for your order.
- Cancellations made between 15 days to 30 days prior to your program start date will receive a 50% refund minus an administrative fee of $25.00.
- Cancellations made at least 31 days prior to your program start date receive a full refund minus an administrative fee of $25.00.
